The Little Blue Creche is a Reggio Emilia-inspired nursery school (0-3 years) and coworking space for parents opening this Summer in Ventura, California. We partner with parents to be the village they need to raise healthy and confident children– by creating a space for work and play, we are redefining postpartum. At our school, children learn naturally through play, exploration, and connection. We remember a childhood spent outside, and we are recreating that for our children. One of our signature programs is our Forest Fridays—an immersive, outdoor education program that takes toddlers on nature-based explorations at parks, forests, and wild spaces.
We offer a nursery program (0-2) and a toddler program (2-3 years) with both half-day and full-day options. For parents who work part-time, we also offer a two-day-a-week program. Starting in Fall 2025, we will hold parenting classes on being a new mom or dad, mindfulness, baby yoga, speech development, and thriving through the toddler years.
In the summer, we also host Big Blue Day Camp, a signature program geared towards ages 4-11 years old. Each week, children study a STEM theme based on the natural landscape of the Central Coast. Whether we are in the marsh studying birds, in the forest tracking critters, or by the beach learning about marine life, we use exploration and adventure to engage little minds and build resilient souls. We meet from 9-5 pm at city and state parks, all near the sea.
We believe time spent in wild places leads to a strong environmental ethic later in life. Our vision is to rewild childhood to save the planet.
